Evaluation of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (Other Interventions) in Karnataka (2019 20 to 2023 24) - Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority, Government of Karnataka.
The Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority (KMEA) is a pioneering pivotal body established by the Government of Karnataka (GoK) to ensure effective oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of developmental projects, schemes, and programs within the state.
Under PMKSY-OI, the Watershed Development Department (WDD), Government of Karnataka (GoK), has been constructing farm ponds, check dams, Gokattes, Nala bunds and other water harvesting structures (WHS) since 2016-17, in all 30 districts of the State. The purpose of the study is “to ascertain the impact of the ‘Community Water Harvesting Structures’ (CWHS) implemented by the WDD, GoK from 2019-20 to 2023-24 on a) the improvement in the ground water status and b) also area brought under protective irrigation through use of micro-irrigation facilities. The study has been modified to include the impact of individual interventions such as supply of pump sets; pipes; farm ponds etc also, as per the direction of the WDD and KMEA.
The study covers all 30 districts of the state; 30 taluks (one taluk from each district – identified by the WDD, GoK); 119 GPs and 442 villages. The evaluation involves a) observation visits of community as well as individual interventions; b) interviews of beneficiaries and also non-beneficiaries; c) in-depth interviews of programme officials; d) FGDs with stakeholder groups and e) documenting Case studies.
