Evaluation of Karnataka Integrated Urban Water Management Investment Programme - "Jalasiri" on Access to Drinking Water and Health (2013-14 to 2023-24) - Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority, Government of Karnataka.
The Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority (KMEA) is a pioneering pivotal body established by the Government of Karnataka (GoK) to ensure effective oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of developmental projects, schemes, and programs within the state.
The Karnataka Integrated Urban Water Management Investment Program (KIUWMIP), also known as ‘Jalasiri’ is a multi-phased program funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka. The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC), is the Executing Agency. Overarching goal of KIUWMIP is ‘to enhance urban water management, water supply, sanitation, and sewerage systems in a sustainable manner. across project cities in the state; viz., eight cities. The evaluation study
- Examines adherence to guidelines; physical and financial progress; constraints and challenges/ shortfalls in the implementation; sustainability of infrastructure;
- Studies the perceptions of beneficiaries about availability of drinking and improved sewerage services;
- Assesses the impact of the scheme across various socio-economic groups; decrease in practice of open defecation;
- Offers suggestions to strengthen the operational capacity of KUIDFC and ULBs.
The study covers five bulk water supply projects; five water supply projects and seven sewerage project in 4 cities in Tranche-1 (Byadagi, Davanagere, Harihara and Ranebennuru) and 4 cities in Tranche-2 (Kundapaura, Managaluru, Putturu and Udipi).
