Comprehensive Environmental Assessment and Management Plan for Ramanagara District.

This was taken up under the CSR projects of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Pvt. Ltd.., Bidadi, Ramanagara. Duration of the Project is FOUR months starting November 2018. The study has twin objectives.

  1. To conduct a comprehensive environmental assessment with respect to key focus areas and arrive at the gaps as against the norms/ benchmarks; and
  2. Identify potential initiatives to close the gaps identified; and prepare an implementation plan, as per the proprieties.

All urban areas/ULBs (6) were included in the study coverage. In each taluka 10% of the villages (106) were selected. Later some additional villages are selected nearby forest areas, industries, water body etc. to get in-depth knowledge of the districts. Primary data was collected from a representative sample of Households (urban – 324 and rural – 1078); Schools (119); Hospitals (104); Hotels (104); Markets (44); Offices (103), Industries (111), and Institutions etc. In addition 23 Public/Community toilets were also surveyed. It was supplemented by observation through transect walks, & visiting water bodies; solid waste dumps; industries etc.

Based on the analysis of the findings of the study, top priority areas were suggested for environment protection and up gradation, for consideration by TKM. The themes are:

  1. Water conservation;
  2. Rain water harvesting;
  3. Rain water harvesting;
  4. Management of solid waste and liquid waste;
  5. Energy conservation;
  6. Bio-diversity; and
  7. Man-animal conflict.
